A work permit from a Canadian visa office will allow nanny to work in
Canada as a live-in caregiver. The work permit is valid for one year,
and Nanny have to renew it before it expires. A Nanny needs a letter from
your employer stating that job as a live-in caregiver is being
offered for another year and a signed contract between nanny and
employer. Include this letter and a copy of the contract in nanny’s application
to renew the work permit. Live in Caregiver authorized to work only
for the employer named on caregiver’s work permit. However, this does not mean
the caregiver cannot change employers for personal or other reasons. Both nanny
and nanny’s employer should be aware that nanny is free to change
employers while in Canada. Citizenship and Immigration Canada will
not deport caregiver for looking for another place to work. Nanny must have
received a new work permit before she begin working for a new
employer
